Data Privacy & Norwegian Church Aid

Your privacy is important for us. On this page you will find information on how Norwegian Church Aid processes personal data.

When you choose to financially support Norwegian Church Aid, we yore some personal information about you and your contribution in order to meet our statutory requirements and to provide you with information about the results of your support and our fundraising efforts. Norwegian Church Aid also collects some personal information as part of our work with programmes and communication, and we run various scripts on our websites to collect data on how the websites are used, to see how our various channels work in context, and to give you a better and more relevant user experience.  

We process personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Norwegian Personal Data Act, and the "Industry norm for voluntary organizations" determined by Fundraising Norway. 

The rights of data subjects

You have the right to request access, erasure, the change of consent, and the correction of personal information. To ensure that information is not disclosed to the wrong person, access will only be provided if you submit a written and signed request. 

For private donors requesting a tax deduction for a donation, Norwegian Church Aid will share personal data with the Norwegian Tax Administration. The sharing of data with subcontractors is regulated by data processor agreements that ensure secure transfer of data, time-limited access to the information and that they are only used for the purpose of the assignment. 

We store personal data until it's purpose has been served and in accordance with industry standards and our own internal guidelines.

Processing of personal data 

Norwegian Church Aid works constantly to protect personal data in the best possible way and has implemented a number of security measures to prevent unauthorized access. 

Below you can find more information about why and how Norwegian Church Aid processes personal information as part of our work.

Communication and programme work 

Norwegian Church Aid’s has routines for obtaining informed consent before any personal information is collected as part of our communication and programme work. Personal data must be collected for a specific purpose and only kept for as long as it fulfils that purpose. To ensure that obsolete personal data, including photos and videos, are deleted, a routine for data erasure is in place.  

Photos, video and written material of individuals will only be shared on NCA`s external platforms or accounts when the appropriate informed consent has been given. Individuals can withdraw their consent at any time and can request the removal of their personal data from any of our digital external accounts or platforms. Supporters in Norway 

When you choose to financially support Norwegian Church Aid, we store some personal information about you. We register your name, address, telephone number and information about your contributions. We use this information to inform you about the results of your support and our fundraising efforts, as well as fulfilling statutory requirements. Statutory requirements involve reporting to the Norwegian Tax Administration to fulfil your right to a tax deduction in the Accounting Act. If you are a taxpayer to Norway and wish to have your contribution count as a tax deduction, we will need your Norwegian birth number to be able to report your contribution to the Tax Administration. 

It is entirely possible to give a gift anonymously. The gift must then be marked "anonymous" in the message field, or we must be informed in another way that the gift should be entered anonymously. It is not possible to get tax deductions on anonymous gifts. 

If you receive emails from us, you can easily select "Unsubscribe" or reply to the e-mail you have received if you no longer wish to receive them.  

If you no longer wish to receive our quarterly magazine, you can send an e-mail to giver@kirkensnodhjelp.no.

Website

Like many other websites (kirkensnodhjelp.no, norwegianchurchaid.no, fasteaksjonen.no and our online store gaversomforandrerverden.no) use cookies. These are small pieces of data that are stored in your web browser to ensure that our services adapt each time you return to our website. Cookies do not entail any security risk to you, but you may withhold your consent to the storage of cookies at any time by adjusting the settings in your web browser. 

Norwegian Church Aid uses aggregated data to make decisions about design and messages in our channels. All our third-party partners have signed a data processor agreement on the responsible use of our data - should you choose to provide personal information on our pages, your information will be safeguarded. 

Here you will find an overview of which scripts we run and why: 

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, which is Google's own tool for measuring page traffic, to measure how visitors to kirkensnodhjelp.no use our pages. Via Google Analytics, we get anonymous data about the number of visits to the pages, which pages people visit, what people search for on Google before they enter our pages, what kind of actions they support, how much money comes in via the web pages and how many files which is downloaded. In addition, we get access to aggregated demographic data about who visits our pages. We use this information to optimize the pages, to give those who come to us the best possible user experience. Most websites today have Google Analytics installed but if you do not want your visit to be registered, you can install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on on your web-browser. 

Facebook Pixel

Norwegian Church Aid has an active presence on several social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn as of today). Facebook is the largest and most active of our social channels. To improve the interaction between Facebook and kirkensnodhjelp.no, we have installed Facebook's "pixel" - a script that measures traffic across Facebook's interface and our websites. We use the data collected by the pixel to deliver customized content to those who visit our websites, and for marketing on Facebook. 

Adform 

Adform also retrieves anonymous data about which pages are visited. This data collected is used to deliver customized content to those who visit our websites, and for marketing, on other channels. 

NCA stores historical photos in the organization's digital photo archive, Fotoweb. These are important for safeguarding and documenting NCA`s organizational history, development and humanitarian work and impact (these are marked as "Historical image”). Only a limited number of people have access to NCA`s main photo archive and the access to the archive must be approved by the Head of Communications on a case-by-case basis. 

Employees 

To comply with our responsibilities as an employer, Norwegian Church Aid processes personal data on our employees. Information necessary to pay salaries and process contracts are registered, including data to ensure our duty of care in the workplace and on duty travel. 

This information is supplied only in relation to payment of salaries and other mandatory reporting. Deletion procedures for personal information comply with GDPR and the Norwegian Accounting Act.  

The access to personnel files is restricted to those who need such access in the performance of their duties. 

The legal basis for this procedure is Article 6 no. 1 b) of the GDPR: processing is necessary for performance of a contract to which the data subject is party. 

Job applicants 

If you apply for a job at Norwegian Church Aid, we need to process information about you in order to assess your application. The legal basis for this is Article 6 no. 1 b) of the GDPR: processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract. If your application contains special categories of personal data, the legal basis is Article 9, nos. 2 b) and h). Deletion procedures for personal information comply with GDPR. Candidates who wish to remain on our recruitment portal can opt to keep their profiles for another 6 months.
